Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family and the benefits of community service. In the first place, he was raised by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon. They lived on a farm near Eufala in Oklahoma as one of their nine children. A second reason was his father was the only of three brothers who played with Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home 2 national titles. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975. He was also named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. Following college, he relocated to Tampa and played nine seasons with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. After that, he began his career. His first job was as an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being among the top 10 young men from the United States. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he played for the team of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame named the player as a member in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded the Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
