Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the sole celebrity who moved from the country to mainstream, and to become a pop icon worldwide. Swift is shedding her country roots as if they were second skins revealing herself to be the smartest pop singer/songwriter of her time. She is able to harness the current zeitgeist and create her own. The skills she displayed are evident in some of her first tracks, including the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her second album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift was able to discover the person she was and reach audiences across the globe. The album was able to have significant reach not just within the U.S. where it racked up six platinum singles due to the Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the globe, performing especially well in Australia, U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's second album Speak Now, released almost two years after the first one, consolidated this success. It helped propel Swift into the spotlight. In the following three years, her fame was growing through the years -three times - Red (2012), Reputation (2014) in addition to 1989 (2014-2015) -- as she moved into a world of pop music in which her talent was already established. Her name was always on top of the charts until she reverted to her style with her sibling albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
