April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball player American She is one of a small group of women who have won medals in several Olympics. She will be competing in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, who is a first-time Olympian. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic gold. As she is 39 and has a long way to go, this could be her last chance. She's certain that the top prizes are within reach. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. She lived here with her father, mother and sibling. Apart from participating in a variety of sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. She clearly was the top at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her college volleyball season, according to her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as the 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in 2000. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles from the year 2017. But, Ross was a major player in the world of beach volleyball before joining the duo. In fact, she won several major championships while playing with two different partners, among them a volleyball icon. Between 2007 and 2013 she was in a partnership by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Ross, Kessy's fellow teammate who took home the title of world champion alongside Kessy in 2009, also was significant on the international stage. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary group comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor as she left the team. The pair were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross began her college time with the Trojans at USC following high school. It was a long time before Ross made her debut on the beach and became a professional. Ross's Trojans experience was remarkable. When she was a freshman in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. She was devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore years, yet she managed to become an All-American once more. Through the two years she played for the Trojans, she helped them to win two consecutive titles. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the opportunity to see her daughter become the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross's mother died of breast cancer when she was a sophomore at USC. However, she continues to hold her lost parent near and close. Margie, on the beach as well as in her everyday life, is still a source of inspiration for her.
