Amy Smart has been a model, actress and former American. Growing up and being raised in California USA she started her modelling career in Italy. Her Costly Affair, a 1996 TV film that she played her first part in, was her debut role. Her fight to secure a part in Starship Troopers, a film that featured mostly minor roles, was extremely intense. It was a difficult transition for Amy as she had change from modeling to the acting profession. Models aren't thought of as great actors, so they usually be given smaller roles that aren't very important. Amy did her best to get noticed and she eventually landed larger roles starting in The 70s, the movie Varsity Blues. Amy then stepped into main roles for the 2005 romantic comedy Just Friends which also starred Ryan Reynolds. Amy got her first recognition by the industry for her performance throughout the previous decade. Amy continued to make major films such as the Crank series opposite Jason Statham and the series Shameless in which she was the well-loved character of recurring.
